Standing up for what is right and just in the face of overwhelming opposition is a very hard thing to do. This is what truly makes heroes. I would include Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King and yes, even the fictional Atticus as people who have done this. Individual morality is what separates humanity from the mindless herd. Even small acts of courage like intervening against a bully is certainly an example of this.
