To kill a mockingbird

Essay topic TKMB presents a completely negative view of life in the first half of the twentieth century. Do you agree?

Help where do I start?

No, I don't think it's completely negative. Read the first few pages again, where Scout describes the town. People are friendly, they sit out on their porches and seldom lock their doors, and they help one another out (Miss Maudie's fire). Some ugly things happen, but a lot of good is presented too: Mrs. Dubose's strength, Heck Tate's and Miss Maudie's respect for Atticus, Tom's treatment of Mayella, Link Deas's support of the Robinsons, Walter Cunningham's decency in debt, Uncle Jack in general, the Negroes' financial support of Helen.

In my oppinion the book shows reality! There is positive and negative things in life just as in the book, the author gave her personal prespective on life. For instance the fire at miss Maudies it was horrible but if you rember she was not even sad about it. I really injoyed reading the book....
