What does the story suggest about humanity's place in nature?

Humanity has a place in nature if (a big if here) he respects the power the elements have. Man is but a small piece within the vastness and awesome power that nature wields. Man must respect nature if he is to survive in it. This guy did not. Despite all his warnings, he forged ahead.
