like does he view him as beautiful, or has no impression, or to cold, or is he unfriendly

Not much detail is given about this. We know the man is a "newcomer" to the land. He finds the land harsh. He finds it colder than he thought it would be. There is a tone of smugness about hm. At times he seems to think that he can beat whatever nature gives him. He quickly learns otherwise.
