The story is bout survival.... instinct over knowledge. In the end, the dog survives because of its instinct.... the man dies because he wasn't smart enough to take the advice of those who knew better.

To Build a Fire

How does the narrator's point of view develop the short story's tone in the story To Bu8ld a Fire

The conclusion of "To Build a Fire" contributes to its overall meaning in the following manner:

- The story is concluded with the death of the man and the revelation that the dog knows what to do to survive the extreme cold.

- That contributes to the overall meaning that nature is more powerful than man, and that arrogance leads to bad consequences. The man did not heed to the advice he received and ended up dead. On the other hand, the dog will remain alive because he respects nature and his own instincts.
