Best Answer: London knew the Yukon backward and forward; it was his favorite place and an absolute passion. His attitude toward the man is slightly contemptuous...... the man he portrays in the novel is foolhardy and arrogant........... he has no respect for nature or the power of nature, seemingly believing himself invincible.
