The three friends stop at shiplake and decide to make an Irish stew. Harris brings the firewood, George and the writer peel the potato and what remains after that is a small potato. Realizing the sheer waste of vitamin values of the peeled potatoes, they decide to put everything they find including the peel. The men certainly are not chefs. They are, however, eager and have an almost boyish quality about them. They try new things without regard for cooking protocol.
