Of the three men, Harris was the only one against sleeping out every night.

“How about when it rained?”

After Harris makes his opinion known, J. begins to think about it. He comes to the following conclusion.

1) everything gets damp

2) there will be standing water in the boat

3) putting up the tent is virtually impossible

4) it's impossible to make a wood fire

5) the tobacco supply gets damp, and you can't smoke
