First, Harris was in charge of making scrambled eggs for breakfast, and he made a huge mess of it. It started when he broke the eggs, getting the eggs almost everywhere but in the pan. He spilled the eggs, burned himself while cooking, and danced around each time he was burned by the hot pan. In the end, six eggs had become a singled tablespoon of burnt matter. Harris, of course, blamed the frying pan.

The result was not altogether the success that Harris had anticipated. There seemed so little to show for the business. Six eggs had gone into the frying-pan, and all that came out was a teaspoonful of burnt and unappetizing looking mess.
