Jefferson was tenacious in the way he insisted upon learning the bagpipes in direct opposition to his family's wishes. First, he practiced at night, but after the neighbors heard the noise, they thought someone was dying..... so he had to practice during the day. Shut up in the house with the doors and windows tightly shut, his playing moved his mother to tears. Thus, he was moved away from the house and into the garden. Jefferson became an amateur bagpipe played.... offending most everyone, but he loved it.
