When the men pass Datchet, they reminisce about an earlier trip, when all the inns were full there and they had to sleep at a local's house. That night, they sleep at an inn in Marlow. Montmorency chases a large cat, but is too intimidated to attack it.

Datchet Incident(Long Answer:10 marks)

They pass Home Park and reached Datchet. Here George reminds the author of the first trip they took up the river. The author tells us about the trip.It was the Saturday before the August Bank Holiday. They were tired and hungry when they got to Datchet and looked for a room in a hotel.Jim didn't like the first hotel they came across. It didn't have honeysuckle over it.Harris didn't like the looks of man stopping in the second one. However, when they found these were the only two hotels in the town they tried to get three beds in both of them. Both were full. They tried a beer shop,a grocer,a lady's rooms, and two other houses. There was no such room to be had.

At long last they met a boy on the high road who told them his mother had a room to spare. They spent an uncomfortable night in their cottage on two small beds.
