This Is How You Lose Her Background

This Is How You Lose Her is a collection of short stories written and compiled by Junot Diaz and published in 2012. The main character of the short stories bears the name Yunior, this character showing up in many other stories and novels by Diaz. "The Sun, The Moon, The Stars", "The Pura Principle", "Flaca", "Otravida, Otravez", "Alma", "Nilda", "Miss Lora", "Invierno", and "The Cheater’s Guide to Love", are the stories that the collection includes, many of these previously published in The New Yorker. All of the stories are linked together in one way or another, and all of them have to do with confusing romances in which the main character(s) have trouble deciding what to do with their lives.

Born in 1968, Junot Diaz was born in the Dominican Republic, but now lives in America to pursue his writing career. As well as being a professor, he has completed three books, two of which were collections of short stories. All of his publications have been received well, and he continues to write to this day. This is How You Lose Her is his newest publication, and perhaps his most well-received, garnering an 80% rating on Google Reviews and becoming a finalist for the 2012 National Book Award.
