What was Mr.Brown's conclusion about the religion of the clan? How did he act to gain converts?

Mr Brown knew that in order to gain converts he would need to take it slow, gain their trust, and be sure not to make the clan members feel threatened. Instead of attacking them full on, he built a school and a hospital. As the people gained an education they began to convert.
