What type of civil dissidence is acceptable in this society? What is unacceptable?

I think anything that defiles or offends the Gods is unacceptable. Okonkwo manages to test Igbo society in other ways, like how he treats is son and adopted son, but suffers repercussions when he insults the Gods like the Earth Goddess.
