The Europeans brought Christianity to the village and won many converts; this caused a breach in the unity of the community. A court house was built and the "laws" of the "white" men began to govern the country. Europeans also brought trade, something that was embraced by the tribe. Christian schools educated the young, and ultimately the culture of the Igbo began to disappear.
