How does the coming of the new religion threaten the survival of the clan?

The new religion destroys the fabric and customs of Igbo culture. Achebe is sympathetic to the church to a point. The church allows to the ostracized a place in society. It also diminishes Igbo social structure. The church and force of the white arrivals are too much for the Igbo to contend with.
