how did Ekwefi add to the overall storyline

Ekwefi is formidable and brave woman, devoted to her surviving daughter, Ezinma. She is Okonkwo's second wife. She shows real courage that can be juxtaposed with Okonkwo's insecurity. She stands up for what is right rather than worrying about people's perceptions of her. In many ways she is a character foil to Okonkwo.
