Their Eyes Were Watching God

Is there a difference between the language of the men and that of Janie or the other women? How do the novel's first two paragraphs point to these differences?

The first sentence if the book reads, " Ships at a distance have every man's wish on board." Men wish for lofty goals, dreams that shimmer in the horizon while women are concerned with reality. They speak to each other about the realities of life while men search for something more, always concerned with changing their reality.
