how would you describe the TONE of the first person narrator? What does she seem to be like as person?

The narrator seems to be sad, confused, and trapped. She is in a less than ideal marriage and feels vulnerable to her husband's sexist condescending manner. She seems like an artistic empathetic person who is being crushed by a domineering personality (her husband).
