What is the role of the Oracle?

An Oracle is a medium: a person who delivers authoritative, wise, or highly regarded and influential pronouncements.  In this play, the sacred island of “Delphos” or Delos is attached to the town of Delphi where ancient Greeks travelled to seek the wisdom of Apollo’s Oracle. Apollo had appointed this oracle to appease the people who continually wanted news from the Gods.
