What are some metaphors Franklin uses to support his argument about acquiring wealth?

Franklin uses metaphors to highlight people's tendencies to waste money. One metaphor is at the end where he sees people resume their shopping for useless goods after just having listened to a man preach Poor Richard's words about saving money and living frugally. Are there other metaphors within this story?
