The Wave

Why did Carl refer to Anne Frank's attic when he entered the newspaper office? Why is this a particular effective allusion for this novel?

The newspaper office was a small, piece of the school that didn't belong to the Wave. It seemed to be the only place they were safe from repurcussions..... where they were freww to be individuals with individual thoughts. This is a particularly effective allusion when the influence of the Wave has permeated every aspect of the students' lives...... just like the Nazis.
