Larry Dunn was “king of the kindergarten” and Byron was “like a god” at Clark Elementary School. Why were they the “rulers” of the school?

Dunn was the "king of the kindergarten" because he was the oldest and strongest of the group. Byron was a god because along with Buphead, he was one of the two oldest kids in school (Larry was the third oldest). Kenny says that Dunn was only the "king" because Byron allowed him to be. "Larry was the king of Clark...... but Byron was a god."
