How did Dad make the family go to sleep? chapter 11

The sound of the record player puts him back to sleep.

I started to say something to Dad but he looked pretty happy and before I could open my mouth the record hypnotized me back to sleep.

Well the answer is that he got hypnotized by the record player so that means he fell back to sleep
