The Water Method Man Metaphors and Similes

The Water Method Man Metaphors and Similes

…a bear who after a terrible and violent struggle ate a photographer.

Trumper describes Ralph Packer when he first saw him. Since Ralph had a huge body and no regard for grooming or grace, he walked wildly; it was hard to guess his age or if he was a human at all. He carried a lot of lenses from his cinematography workshop. And, it appeared as if a bear had ate a photographer and was now laden with all his effects.

Biggie is gone, anesthetized, sanitized

Trumper is describing Biggie’s early morning routines when she went off for work as a cleaner in a hospital. He doesn’t like that she works in an environment which detaches her from her personality as such. She has to wear scrubs and is almost unrecognizable. She gives off no feelings like this

Lady Burden, the Mistress of Cope

Trumper and Biggie had been living in extremely financially limiting conditions. He feels that Biggie had been suffering more than himself as she had to not only let go of her career but take care of a baby with no help from Trumper and work as a cleaner in a hospital as well

Another surface..., Or maybe that one surface with nothing underneath it.

Tulpen feels that Trumper is never honest with her. She feels that he often hides his feelings and shuts everyone out. She believes that Trumper may be a very layered person or maybe he is a very shallow person appearing to be layered.

In his day they probably used spears.

Trumper thinks of this a sarcastic comment on Mr. Fitch’s age about his comments that he would have needed guns to kill a duck. By commenting that he would have used a spear, it’s a comment on Fitch’s age that he is so old that when Fitch was young enough to hunt, he would have been using a spear and not guns since they wouldn’t have been invented.
