Kamal was disturbed by the death of the mongoose, believing that nothing so small could be as wicked as the villagers proclaimed. The villagers took pleasure in the mongoose's death, claiming it drinks the juice of their coconuts and leaves the fruit dry. The mongoose is actually torn apart by the dogs, and then stuck on a pole like a trophy by the villagers.
