The Truman Show

the media

Are the media and advertisers responding to what they see the public wanting, or are they creating what the public want?

That is a good question. I think the message and the media are self-fulfilling. Certainly, in the Truman show as well as our own media culture, the media is channelling the human obsession with voyeurism. The media takes this human need to watch people and exploits it. The sponsors just support whatever makes them money.
