What does O'Brien say about storytelling in "Notes"?

I think that storytelling becomes an expression of memory for O'Brien. It is his way of reckoning with the past by telling it. The act of storytelling is therapeutic to him, it is a catharsis of sorts dealing with all the emotional wounds he took home.
