This really depends on which leader you are referring to. Decisions by leaders often can mean life and death for the men. Leaders often set the tone for the other men. They should inspire, drive, and comfort their men. Jimmy Cross is concerned with where and when the men need to move or go. He does not set a moral tone nor does he inspire confidence or courage: Jimmy is simply the man picked by the army to lead these men.
