They carried their packs and the emotional objects brought from home. Often, the those things were tokens.... others were memories, but all were thigs that kept them alive and connected them with home. Photographs, Bibles, pantyhose, diaries, and tokens of war..... the things that pulled at their heart strings. Often, the thoughts of home were heavier than the uniform.
