I suppose that within the context of this era Helen is doing her best. Helen is uncomfortable being around Lady Lowborough, but she is polite. In the afternoon, Lady Lowborough asks to speak to Helen. Helen announces what she knows and suggests that Lady Lowborough stop trying to be polite to her. Helen also promises not to tell Lord Lowborough about the affair as long as Lady Lowborough promises to keep her behavior within the proper parameters.
