In chapter twenty-four, Mr. Huntingdon is growing bored at Grassdale. During this time, Mr. Huntingdon begins telling his wife stories of his past romances, including a woman who was married during their relationship. Helen is so outraged that she refuses to hear anymore. Helen refuses to talk to her husband for several days, prompting him to plan a trip to London. Finally they make up and Mr. Huntingdon agrees to take Helen to London with him.
