Wow, that would take a long time to answer. Shakespeare was a master of dramatic techniques. Prospero speaks in highly rhetorical terms, placing significant attention of his own achievements. His way of speaking makes him seem like the greatest man who ever lived and makes his enemies seem the worse. This type of speaking and his powers of coercion all add to his power. There is a lot of stuff on the net about this that can go into greater detail though.
