These lessons and activities provide many different approaches to the text; select those that best suit the strengths and interests of your own class. The key to teaching a play, whether it is in a literature course or a drama or theater course, is to bring the play alive in your classroom. Reading a play is a different experience from reading a novel; likewise, a play should be taught differently. This lesson plan includes activities and questions that can be used to encourage students to perform and see the play as a performed text.
