Kate's conflict with her father is internal. She is extremely jealous of his preference for Bianca, and as a result drives him further away by disobeying him and thus embarrassing him. By the end of the play, Baptista is so shocked and pleased by the changes in Kate that he gives Petruchio yet another dowry.
