chapter 3 opens with an akward conversation between meursault and his boss . In this conversation the boss inquires about mamans age and then comments that boss seemed to be relieved that the matter of mamans death is closed
this is still the most perplexing aspect for me. I have read several analysis' of this and still cannot get a satisfactory answer. The sun made me do it isn't enough for 1 shot---hesitation, then 4 more shots.
