why does meursault not love marie, not care if maman has died, and agree to marry marie?

Meursault, like the author Camus, is an existentialist. He sees no poetic, romantic, or sympathetic feeling in relationships. He puts no importance into his emotional connections, everything in life seems disposable to Meursault.
