Meursault likes Marie for her beautiful body, playfulness, and laughter. These reasons, however, are based in the superficiality of his primal needs. Meursault has no deep feelings for Marie; he does not lover her or want to marry her. His feelings for Marie hold no more substance than his sexual attraction to her looks.
