Helen simply doesn't give up. Helen grew up in an era when people did not understand her disabilities. There also was not much scientific help for her. Helen's success against all odds is a result of many individuals' determination to see her achieve. Helen's strong mental fortitude enabled her to rise to the occasion of any obstacle. Helen's teacher, Miss Sullivan, was similarly dedicated, bearing Helen's early frustration and anger because she knew she would be able to help change the young girl's life.
