confusion in sound and the fury

why did Faulkner make the story so hard to follow?!? I have this - I am very confused. Does anyone else have trouble understanding the plot?

Faulkner is a author that is intense in emotion. He makes it so hard to read because he is not making you read it, but feel it. There are guides out there to help with the time jumps and such, but struggling through and grasping Benjy, Quentin, Jason, and Dilsey will allow you to come closer to the character and yourself. You will realize things that Quentin thinks that you thought no one but yourself has thought.
