I'm sorry, I do not understand your question as asked. The choices don't really make sense in relation to the question.

From the text:

At the beginning of the story, "His face was the face of a student, thin and ascetic, but his eyes had the cold gleam of the fanatic."

Later......

The sniper fired again. The woman whirled round and fell with a shriek into the gutter.

With his left hand he felt the injured right forearm. The blood was oozing through the sleeve of his coat. There was no pain--just a deadened sensation, as if the arm had been cut off.

The Sniper

All three of the above imply different aspects of the sniper's charecter throughout the story and as they happen one after the other this is proof that the charecter evolves over the duration of the story.

a) the look on his face - quoted at the beginning of the story in "His face was the face of a student, thin and ascetic, but his eyes had the cold gleam of the fanatic." . This quote indicates that the sniper is fairly young- the age of a student and that he has been through a situation like this before , hence the ascetic look on his face. However, the quote has a negative implication as well as the word " fanatic" is usually used in a negative context. This implies that he is excited by the prospect of war- an emotion that not too many people would be able to relate to.

b) the killing of the old women in cold bold- an event that takes place a short while later after the above mentioned, it is described in the prose as a life and death situation, where the sniper's life is threatened if he does not take action immediately, so he kills the old women, the moment being quoted in the passage as "The sniper fired again. The woman whirled round and fell with a shriek into the gutter" . The killing of the old woman symbolically holds two purposes- one being to highlight the fact that the sniper did what he had to do to save himself and puts his life ahead of his moral code. The second is to shed light upon how gruesome civil war is and that one must do what one must do to survive and like the sniper that must often mean ignoring your moral code and killing your own fellow country people. The events in a civil war- such as the killing of other induviduals can often lead to pschological issues . This does to some, as it is rather subjective makes the sniper be seen as a charecter in a negative light

c) the dressing of his wounded arm- occuring further into the story, at the beginning of the conflict between the republican and the free staters sniper, the description of the event is as follows "- With his left hand he felt the injured right forearm. The blood was oozing through the sleeve of hisy coat. There was no pain--just a deadened sensation, as if the arm had been cut off." As far as charecter development goes, this event actually highlights one of the more positive aspects of the charecter we have been introduced to, the event implying that the the sniper is quite brave and has an endurance for pain as well as being very perseverant as he continues to fight, even after being shot. This quote is also an exageration by the author as the term " oozing" is very graphic, giving the reader insight into the fact that the sniper has been badly shot

Personally i think, that the three above phrases both contribute to the storyline as well as the charecter's development, shedding light on both the positive and negative facets of the sniper's charecter. If you are looking for more charecter enhancing moments during the course of the story , you should also look at the moments after the conflict between the two snipers end and the moment where the sniper realises that his antagonist was his brother ( though that might ruin the story's air of suspense).
