Ronald Maradick is the antagonist of the story. He is a manipulator who uses people for his benefit. However, he is a really great surgeon.

Mrs. Maradick is Ronald Maradick’s wife. He wants to send her to an asylum to be able to marry a woman he has always loved.

Miss Hemphill is the superintendent of the hospital and a distant kinswoman of Margaret.
