The Secret Zoo Themes

Brother Sister Love

Noah and Megan are usual kids and it is quite obvious that there is some sibling rivalry between them. It is a life and many brothers and sisters live like that. The important thing is that there is also brother sister love between them. When Megan disappears, Noah is ready to do everything possible to find her and – if it is needed – to save her from any danger. They are not just blood related strangers, who live under the same roof. This pair is a real family in which every member is ready to protect one another no matter what.

Friendship

Writers often use theme of friendship in their work, for this type of a relationship often brings the best in people. Here, we have an already classic golden trio. Two boys and a girl, all absolutely different, but all of them are friends and together they are the Action Scouts. If Noah wouldn’t be so lucky to have such devoted and brave friends, it might be possible that he would never see Megan again. This story portrays supportive and sincere friendship everyone dreams about, but a few have.

Protection of animals

The Secret Zoo was created to help animals whose existence is at risk. This is a place, where they suppose to find a shelter from people’s greediness and cruelty. For instance, the Zoo becomes a new home for the Dodo, an extinct flightless bird. Due to this theme, this novel is not just entertaining but also thought-provoking.

Family

Although the Zoo was created for protection of extinct animals, it also could be used as an example of parental love. Mr. Jackson loved his son so dearly that he started sharing the same interests with his son. It was Frederick who inspired Mr. Jackson to create a zoo for wounded, extinct and other animals, which needed help. After Frederick’s death, the zoo became a link between the father and the son. Even being separated by death, they still had each other, for Mr. Jackson believed that a part of his son’s soul continued to live in the zoo.
