The Secret Life of Bees

When Lily learns the truth about her mother, she thinks, “Knowing can be a curse on a person’s life. I’d traded in a pack of lies for a pack of truth…” (255). How is she coping with this knowledge? What is she feeling now? How did the truth about Deborah

“Knowing can be a curse on a person’s life. I’d traded in a pack of lies for a pack of truth…”

Life is painful and messy. For Lilly, the lies that T-Ray tells her about her mother are just as painful as the truth. Knowing the truth means having to deal with reality which is very difficult of Lilly. Lilly is still a child.
