How does Chauvelin treat the Jewish man in Calais?

With what does he offer and threaten the Jewish man? What does he think of him?

The Chauvelin treats the Jew like he's nothing; he wants to know where Percy has taken the horse and he threatens the Jew with a beating if he lies. He also promises a monetary reward if he doesn't. He decides to trust the Jew, but he's not sure if he should have.
