Why is Dimmesdale's encounter with Mistress Hibbins important?

Dimmesdale's encounter with Mistress Hibbins is important because she is aware of his secrets..... while everyone else is blind to what is going on inside of him.... she sees the truth. Although their encounter troubles him, after much thought, it also helps to set him free.
