The Scarlet Letter

How does the Reverend Mr. Wilson interpret the baby's response to Dimmesdale's entreaty? What significance do you think the baby's response may have?

This is from the book The Scarlet Letter

Dimmesdale's plea for Hester to reveal the father's identity (Dimmesdale REALLY doesn't want this to happen) is so intense that baby Pearl lifts her arms out to him, stirring the crowd.Mr. Wilson takes it as a sign that God is speaking through the baby wanting Hester to come clean.
