After leaving the Governor's mansion Mistress Hibbins invites Hester to a witches’ gathering in the forest. Hester tells Mistress Hibbins that had her child been taken from her she would have joined her. It is noted by the narrator that because Pearl is allowed to stay with her mother...... her mother has been saved from Satan's temptations.
