How does Dimmesdale explain to Hester that he is a hypocrite in terms of his parishoners?

Dimmesdale preaches against the very same actions he has taken....... this make him a hypocrite, and it's different than if as a preacher he didn't preach against it. The fact that he stands in front of a church and preaches out in God's name against adultery and fornication makes him a hypocrite because he has indulged in those same actions........... if he didn't preach against it or condemn his parishioners, he wouldn't be a hypocrite....... he'd just be a sinner. There is a difference.
