Common Core Objectives
1. Reading well: The student should be able to relate the reading material to their real world experience. They need to be able to discuss the text, its themes, and how character development relates to the plot.
2. Thinking well: The student needs to relate the text to outside sources and opinions, and also should offer their own arguments.
3. Speaking well: Teach the student how to use new words verbally and in a written manner. The student develops their vocabulary through discussion.
4. Listening well: The student can respond to their classmates with questions and prompts. Tell students to ask each other questions.
